Thanks for reading and commenting, McKenna. Your family’s situation is a great example of why alcohol is so dangerous for many. They see people like you and your brother #1 and think that if you can do it, then they should be able to do it. But you (rightfully so) point out that there is a genetic difference in how you respond to alcohol and that keeps you “safe.” For whatever reason, your brother #2 doesn’t have that same gene and sounds a lot like me. When I had one, there was almost no way, I was going to stop. For people like that, abstinence is the only true solution.
Be careful, however, as I’ve heard of people who’ve lived a long life of not “caring” about alcohol to wake up and realize they COULDN’T go a day without their glass of wine and it became a problem.
Not saying that will happen to you, of course, but just saying to please be careful…
