I haven't had a drink in 4 years, so there is no "again" date for me, however, there could be a fixation on the day if you definitely KNOW you are going to drink again. The hope is that by going 90 days, you'll get to see all the major positive benefits of not drinking and it will encourage you to do it a "little bit longer" to the point that you decide that drinking again isn't worth it to give up all the positive gains you've made in so many areas. The fixation could be there but you'll have way stronger positive results to combat it with the longer time frame.
